I am excited to share my two newest painted portraits with you today! I LOVE painting acrylic portraits! And this year, my goal is to get LOOSER with brush strokes and go wild with color! This first portrait was inspired by a lesson in Let’s Face It 2018, with Kara Strachan Bullock.
The Emerging Artist – 11 x 14 inch acrylic on stretched canvas
Some would say this is a bit of a self portrait…in more ways than one. I feel like the last year and half especially, I have cracked open a bit and let the artist inside really come out and grow! I attribute that growth to a variety of things…daily practice, whether it is painting or sketching, taking some awesome online classes and really practicing the lessons, Let’s Face It has really been a jumping off point for me. And I traveled to two live workshops that really changed the way I see art making…these moments with fellow artists I will treasure.
Portrait of Siena – 9 x 12 inch acrylic on stretched canvas
Inspired by the colors of Italy, and the town of Siena…those lovely Viennese rose buildings, with touches of yellow ochre everywhere, and blues and purples in the evening shadows. This portrait was created intuitively, meaning there was no reference photo. She is an image of my imagination, and really she came about by the brush and paints…and just letting them do what they wanted, and leaving those exposed brush strokes.
Both of these portraits can now be found in my online shop,
